knee-high in americana and roots culture, the long road festival has been trusting us to deliver their photography since 2023.
A varied, multi-stage festival that brings together crowds that love everything Americana and hot dog eating contests. We’ve been working together to showcase the feeling of The Long Road for years.
the challenge.
As one of the UK’s fastest growing Americana and Roots festivals, The Long Road crafts an unique position of bringing together a wide-ranging audience and providing experiences that connect with the genre.
In the years we’ve been entrusted to look after the photography of the three-day festival, we’ve felt challenged and carved out a way of delivering the great work we produce today.
The festival needs to show not only a diverse audience but the diverse experiential and partnership activations across the festival. From dog shows to country music headliners, cowboy boot specialists and pit food, we needed to bring everything together under a single Art Direction.
As with any festival shoots, we needed to keep the team dynamic and ensure the team were covering the programming, activations, features and sponsors, accommodation and setting, along with the heart of the event - the people.
Whatever we’re doing, it’s long days whatever the weather, and at times working at height.
HOW WE MADE IT WORK.
We met the demands of this event by:-
Curating an experienced team that could deliver across the complex, often-changing nature of festivals. We ensured we crafted the right mix of talented professionals and then give them what they need to make things happen.
Dedicating resource to focus on the atmosphere and experience of the festival, ensuring we captured guests across the range of activities.
Implementing considered Art Direction that ensures we’re producing work which meets demand and is always keeping us on-brand and shooting with application in mind.
Setting ourselves up to be agile and knowing that flexibility is part of the gig. We structured the team and our work so we could quickly respond to the shifting needs of the festival.
Putting communication at the heart of working the client and production teams on site, meaning we could respond to changes and spot opportunities to help in different ways.
Knowing that we learn on-site and off-site and putting in place reviews so we can all develop our approach for each event.
